between caring and creating

Herlinde Raeman (°1982, Eeklo) focuses her analogue camera on the everyday. She often collaborates with people from her immediate environment, such as friends, family, and her child. Her work explores personal yet simultaneously activist and feminist themes, such as motherhood in relation to artistry, the importance of engaging with time and archives, and the familial aspects of art. Through the safe and intimate nature of her work, she invites her collaborators into a shared authorship—an intense process of sharing and dialogue. Her work typically highlights underrepresented contexts and relational strategies of creation.

Opus One 2023, a project by Breedbeeld, selected her graduation project, the mom/artist notebook, pt. I, for an exhibition at Cultuurcentrum Hasselt in 2024, alongside the works of fifteen Belgian and four Irish photographers.
In April 2025, this project was selected for the Feminist Art Prize at IKOB in Eupen and was awarded the second prize.

Supported by the Flemish Government with a development grant in 2025–2026.
